Basil Essential Oil, also called Sweet Basil Essential Oil, is derived from the leaves of the Ocimum basilicum plant, better known as the Basil herb. Basil essential oil provides restorative benefits to both the mind and body due to its high linalool content, making it an ideal application for sore muscles and joints and to reduce tension when applied to the temples and back of the neck.
Basil Essential Oil emits a warm, sweet, freshly floral and crisply herbaceous scent that is further characterized as airy, vibrant, uplifting, and reminiscent of the scent of licorice.
When used on the skin, Sweet Basil Essential Oil is reputed to nourish, repair, balance, calm, smooth, exfoliate, and brighten the complexion. When used in hair, Sweet Basil Essential Oil cleanses, refreshes, hydrates, softens, and strengthens the strands.

Diffuse to sharpen focus while studying or reading.
Apply to minor skin irritations. For sensitive skin, dilute with Carrier Oil.
Apply to fatigued or sore muscles and joints.
Diffuse or apply topically to promote clear breathing.
Use three to four drops in the diffuser of your choice.
Apply one to two drops to desired area. Dilute with Carrier Oil to minimize any skin sensitivity.

1. Tension Headache Roll On Blend:
Try using this oil blend to help relieve a tension headache.
3 drops Basil essential oil
3 drops Lavender essential oil
4 drops Frankincense Carteri essential oil
Fractionated Coconut Oil
10 ml Roller Bottle
Directions: Add essential oils to the bottle, fill the rest of the bottle with Fractionated Coconut Oil. Shake to blend. To use, roll onto temples (avoid the eyes) and back of neck/shoulders. Be sure to label the bottle.
2. Soothing Inhaler Blend:
Because Basil essential oil is so rich in linalool, it makes this oil very relaxing and beneficial for decreasing feelings of stress and anxiety. Use it before bedtime to help you wind down and transition into bedtime.
5 drops Basil essential oil
5 drops Bergamot essential oil
5 drops Clary Sage essential oil
Blank Inhaler
Directions: Mix essential oils together before adding them to a blank inhaler. To use, place the inhaler under nose and inhale deeply.
3. Chest Compress Recipe:
Basil essential oil is useful for respiratory issues, colds, and the flu. It is an expectorant and offers antispasmodic actions which may help relieve coughing.
4 drops Basil essential oil

Washcloth
Directions: Mix 3 drops of Earth's Oils basil oil into bowl of warm water. Soak a washcloth in the bowl and wring out. Lay down, place washcloth onto chest, and just relax while taking some nice deep breaths.
4. DIY Purifying Air Freshener:
You can use basil oil to remove bacteria from surfaces and freshen the air, it's especially beneficial for cleaning kitchens and bathrooms. It is a potent antibacterial and antiviral oil.
6 drops Basil essential oil
7 drops Tea Tree essential oil
12 drops Grapefruit essential oil
Water
4 oz glass spray bottle
Directions: Add essential oils to 4 oz glass spray bottle. Fill rest of bottle with water, leaving room for sprayer top. Shake well before use, spritz throughout kitchen and bathroom to encourage clean air, especially during cold and flu season.
